Vol Nation

A Lifelong Tennessee Vol

The Big Orange has always been more than football. For John Myers, it's a way of life.

Long before John Myers ever filed a tax return, he was a Tennessee Volunteers fan. Growing up in the shadow of Neyland Stadium, the Big Orange wasn't just a team — it was a way of life. Saturday afternoons in the fall meant one thing, and it had nothing to do with accounting.

Over three decades of building a career in tax and accounting, one constant has remained: his devotion to the Vols. Whether it was watching games with clients who became friends, or listening to John Ward's legendary play-by-play on the radio, Tennessee football has been woven through the chapters of John's life the same way trust and integrity have been woven through his practice.

So when it came time to build this website, John decided it needed one more thing beyond tax services and client resources — a little piece of Vol pride. He put the game below on this page for one simple reason: so he can watch Tennessee beat Alabama any time he wants.

The Game That Started It All

Tennessee 35, Alabama 28 — October 16, 1982

For eleven long years, Alabama had dominated the rivalry. Eleven years of frustration, close calls, and heartbreak for Vol fans everywhere. Then came October 16, 1982, in Birmingham — and everything changed. Tennessee stormed back with 21 unanswered points in the second half, stunning the Crimson Tide and snapping one of the longest losing streaks in the series' history. For a generation of Tennessee fans, it was the moment they never forgot. For John, it was the game that cemented his love affair with the Vols for life.
